Things to do to get this nice feeling for this city
HAVE A “TAPA” AND LET an old ex boxer TELL YOU A POEM
Visit the Mundial bar. It is very small, ancient looking, a memorable experience that will make you feel happy. Enjoy the crowd, the noise, the smoke and the smell of all that food. Plaça San Agusti Vell nº1.Metro: Arc de Troimf, closed on Sundays and Mondays.

GO TO THE TOP OF MONTJUIC, to the military castle, sit down on the fortresses walls grab a beer and enjoy the view of the city, the ocean, Barcelona's surroundings, just spectacular.
How to get there?
I would recommend walking from Plaça Espanya half way up to the top of Montjuic then taking the cable car to the very top. Both the castle and the cable car are open during sunlight hours.

Visit the back of the fortress and acknowledge the horror of the civil war. This was the extermination ground of anti fascists. You can still see the bullet holes if you look behind the trees.
MORE THINGS TO DO WHILE IN MONTJUIC
Things to do in Montjuic: Fundació Miró, Piscines Picornell, Caixa Forum, the magical Fountains. This is part of my Barcelona guide for our guests at Residencia Australia.
This is myself on the cable car on the way down from military castle in Montjuic asking myself:What else can we do in Montjuic? |

How about some inspiration visiting the Fundació Miró? This will add a bit of colour to your life. I must say that Miro´s artwork does give me great pleasure. It is closed on Mondays (except public holidays). On all public holidays it closes at 14.30.
As most businesses in Spain, they open at 10 am, just after breakfast.
General ticket: adults: ¤ 8.00, reduced rate: ¤6.00 . They give you this rate if you jog quickly through the expo (just joking).
Other interesting things to do.
If it is summer have a swim in the Olympic pool of Montjuic, Piscines Picornell, around 6 euros in summer and a bit more in winter since you cannot sunbathe then you have to use all the olympic swimming complex to feel happy (this is true). On the map it is right on the big avenue in the Anella Olimpica . You can also prepare your muscles, if you feel like it watch a movie at night while you are floating in the water, also there are nudist hours: Sundays 16.15 h a 18.00. and Saturdays 21.00 a 23.00. Real fun for the non-imaginative ones.
For more info: Piscines Picornell
Visit the Caixa Forum. Located at the bottom of Montjuic we have an exhibition area, financed by the bank called la Caixa, with some of my money. The good thing is that it is free. Click on here to see the current exhibitions.
The Caixa Forum timetable is as follows:
10:00 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Saturday
11:00 to 15:00 on Sunday
The Caixa Forum will be closed in August. Casaramona ( the place that hosts the exhibition centre ) is located in avda Marques de Comillas 6 –8 nearby Plaça Espanya just three stops away from Plaça Universitat. The metro line is the red one (L1)
Another great thing to do is watch the Magical fountain of Montjuic, watch it change colours and shapes while it is synchronized to music. Also get wet in the effort.
Montjuic Fountain: Fonts de Montjuic.
FROM MAY TO SEPTEMBER
8pm to Midnight from Thursday to Sunday with music every 30 min from 9:30 pm
MARCH, APRIL AND OCTOBER TO EARLY JANUARY
7pm to 9pm on Friday and Sunday with music every 30 min. ( Last session is at 8:30 )
